Caring for Your GazeboCedar Creations' gazebos are coated with Sikkens-Sico Cetol 1 Cedar #077 stain. In order to keep your gazebo looking beautiful follow the directions of the stain manufacturer: Apply a second coat in the second year and every 3 or 4 years after that depending on the location of the gazebo. If it is in direct sunlight it will degrade faster than if it is in the shade. You will have to judge it visually. The gazebo should be clean and dry before applying stain. If there is any mold or mildew growing on it, this will have to be cleaned. The recommended method is to use a mixture of 1 gal water, add 2-4 oz TSP (trisodium phosphate ) and 30 oz household bleach. Wear rubber gloves and scrub the affected area with a bristle brush. Rinse thoroughly with clear water. The wood should dry for 3 days before applying the stain coat. This is important so that no moisture is trapped. Brush the stain on with a good quality bristle brush and wipe off with a cloth rag to prevent streaking or an uneven appearance. Do not seal it with anything else, ie: urethane. Sealer will smother the wood. |
